The Khumbu sits within Sagarmatha National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Trekkers reach it via the Lukla airstrip — one of the most weather-dependent landings in commercial aviation. The classic routes are Everest Base Camp (5,364 m), Gokyo Lakes (5,357 m at Gokyo Ri) and the full Three Passes circuit (max 5,535 m at Kongma La). All require a Sagarmatha NP entry permit and the Khumbu Pasanglhamu Rural Municipality fee — no TIMS needed here. Peak views from these routes include Everest, Lhotse, Cho Oyu, Makalu, Ama Dablam, Pumori and Nuptse.
