— Quick answers

Things people get wrong about Nepal permits.

Can I get permits at the trailhead? +
No for ACAP and Sagarmatha NP — you'll be turned back. Yes for some smaller park entries, but bring cash and expect surcharges.
Do I need TIMS for Everest Base Camp? +
No. EBC uses the Sagarmatha NP permit + Khumbu Pasanglhamu local fee. TIMS is for trekking corridors outside national parks.
Can I do Manaslu solo? +
No. Restricted area rules require minimum two trekkers, a licensed guide, and an agency-issued permit. No exceptions.
Why do permit prices change? +
Park fees are reviewed by DNPWC roughly every two years. We update this page within a week of any change.
What if I lose a permit? +
Go back to the issuing office with your passport. Replacements take a day. Don't try to enter without one — you'll be sent back.
Do permits include insurance? +
No. Buy helicopter evacuation insurance separately. Minimum NPR 1,000,000 coverage recommended for treks above 4,000 m.
