The Annapurna Conservation Area covers more elevation diversity than any other Nepal region — from 800 m subtropical valleys to the 5,416 m Thorong La pass. Standard treks include the Annapurna Circuit, Annapurna Base Camp (the sanctuary), the short Poon Hill / Ghorepani-Ghandruk loop, and the ridge-walk Mardi Himal trek. Access is from Pokhara (a 25-minute flight or 6-hour drive from Kathmandu). All routes need the ACAP permit plus a TIMS card; restricted-area permits aren't required (unlike neighbouring Manaslu).

Annapurna Circuit
A complete loop crossing Thorong La pass — paddy fields to high desert, pine forests to apple orchards in a single trek.
Annapurna Base Camp
A direct route into the Annapurna Sanctuary, a glacial amphitheatre walled by eight-thousanders.
Mardi Himal
A short, sharp ridge walk with the closest possible view of Machapuchare's fishtail summit.

The classic Annapurna sunrise — 3,210 m Poon Hill viewpoint, rhododendron forest, Gurung villages. The most accessible Nepal trek.
