The Manaslu Conservation Area opened to foreigners in 1991 and remains classified as a restricted area: minimum two trekkers, licensed guide via a TAAN-registered agency, and an agency-issued Restricted Area Permit (RAP). The signature route is the Manaslu Circuit crossing Larkya La (5,160 m). The side trek into Tsum Valley (also restricted) reaches Mu Gompa (~3,700 m) and preserves a Tibetan Buddhist culture largely unchanged for centuries.
Manaslu region trekking
A restricted area circling the world's eighth-highest peak (8,163 m). Wilder, quieter and more demanding than the Annapurna alternative.
