Langtang sits directly north of Kathmandu, reachable by a long mountain-road drive (no flight required). The valley was devastated by a landslide triggered by the 2015 Gorkha earthquake; Langtang Village was rebuilt by its Tamang community. The standard trek to Kyanjin Gompa (3,870 m) and the optional climb of Tserko Ri (4,984 m) deliver a high Himalayan experience without the Lukla flight. The shorter Helambu circuit stays under 3,700 m and is one of the most accessible treks in Nepal for first-timers.
