Worth attempting EBC in winter (Dec–Jan)?

Half the teahouses above 4,500 m close for winter. Plan to stop at Lobuche; Gorak Shep is often unstaffed. Sky is the clearest of the year and the trail is empty. You'll need a 4-season sleeping bag, plastic boots, and a guide who has done winter Khumbu before.

I've led 4 winter Khumbu treks. Stop at Lobuche, not Gorak Shep. Half the teahouses past Dingboche are unstaffed Jan–Feb.

Did EBC in late December. Skies were the clearest I've ever seen but the cold at night was brutal. Bring a -25°C bag, not -15°C.
